Three pros (good things) and three cons (bad things) about working as a DOC ranger.

3 cons (bad things) about working as a DOC ranger
Wasps, hypothermia and hidden mine shafts – the on-the-job hazards for Department of Conservation (DOC) rangers may be unlike any other.
Incident reports filed by DOC workers detailing injuries, near-misses and abuse from the public reveal the downsides to working in New Zealand's great outdoors.
Consider the DOC ranger who nearly fell into a hidden mine shaft or the one who was hospitalised after being attacked by a horde of wasps.

  1. Hello Shriya,
Those seem like pretty scary things to think about when it comes to DOC Rangers! It almost wants to make me quit thinking about being a DOC Ranger. You have done a good job making the list, and finding things that could possibly happen.

Remember, the activity also states you have to write 3 good things, so keep that in mind when you re-edit this post. Falling in a mineshaft and being attacked by bees is something I have always been scared of.

Next time, try to include something good that happens when you work as a DOC ranger because some people might get scared of doing their own passion.

  2. Kia Ora Shriya,

Well done for attempting this SLJ activity, 'The Secretive Skink' and for listing 3 cons to being a DOC Ranger— as Gargee states above, these things sound terrifying! I too, wouldn't mind being a DOC Ranger but now I'm not so sure.
Don't forget to list the 3 pros to being a DOC Ranger so that your readers are able to see that you've thought about this activity reflexively.

    Cheers,

    Jordan
